Chemical Industry
23/08/2007Cue: A woman has died in a major explosion and fire at a chemical plant near Billingham, on Teesside. The woman, who hasn't yet been named, is thought to have been killed instantly in the accident about an hour ago at Terminal Chemicals. Five other workers are believed to have been injured - some seriously. More than 30 fire appliances from throughout the region are at the scene as firemen fight to bring the flames under control. The plant has been shut down but a company spokesperson said there had never been any possibility of the fire spreading to other parts of the plant. Joining us live is our reporter, Richard Wills. He's talking to John Smith, the plant's production manager..........
This is a live, face-to-face interview on BBC TV's network Breakfast programme. What you say will not only be seen locally and nationally but may well be seen throughout the world on other BBC outlets and on other network channels with which the BBC has links. It is already running on the BBC website.
It will, of course, be seen by company employees at Terminal's other sites throughout the world.
