Shipman cop takes legal action

A detective branded 'a liar' following a public inquiry into the bungled Harold Shipman investigation has applied for a judicial review the decision to sack him from a civilian post.

The decision to re-hire Smith sparked outrage among those involved with the Shipman inquiry. Ann Alexander, who represented the families of Shipman's victims, branded the decision 'shocking' and 'unbelievable'.
