Northern Rock – Sound as a Pound

Northern Rock. Yep, the lads down at the Slug and Bank Manager talked of little else last night.

And they are all solidly behind the bank's chairman, whose name and salary elude me, bless him. I mean, why should the bank be nationalised? As the chairman said: 'It would be a last resort - an admission of failure.'

Indeed. The lads all agreed that propping up this beacon of banking excellence with £55billion of public money could never be construed as failure. Ridiculous
