Media profile - on-line newspapers
10/11/2007Getting a story in a newspaper takes the news much further than the paper itself these days. The story is likely to appear in the paper's on-line version too, spreading your story around the world.
I wrote an obituary last week for the former editor of the Stockport Express, the famous Northern journalist, author, caver, climber and raconteur Jimmy Lovelock. My old friend Jim died recently at a venerable age in Spain. The piece duly appeared but popped up in the paper's on-line version too.
That was seen by a mutual friend, a businessman who retired to Spain seven years ago and with whom I had lost touch. He then tracked me down via various search engines.
It works exactly the same for businesses. Good newspaper coverage can bring you new customers via the web as well.
